A new Family Dollar store is under construction on Bentleyville’s Main Street not far from where a district judge is preparing to open a restaurant.

McIlvried, DiDiano & Max of Pittsburgh is preparing the site next to the borough building at 900 Main St. for construction.

Bentleyville Mayor Tom Brown said the new store will replace the existing Family Dollar a short distance away at 401 Washington St.

The new store, at 834 Main St., will open at the end of this year, said Bryn R. Winburn, public and media relations manager for Family Dollar.

“This location will take the place of our current store in Bentleyville, and it will be approximately 8,400 square feet – an average size for our stores,” Winburn said. “According to my records, construction is currently on schedule.”

District Judge Curtis Thompson is renovating the former Union National Bank building at 401 Main St. The business, which is expected to open in mid-summer, will be known as Boomtown Grill.

“We’ll be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, sliders, salads, soups, homemade desserts and soft-serve ice cream,” the restaurant stated on its Facebook page.

“It’s just a nice addition,” Brown said.

He said lunch options have been limited in the borough’s downtown since Jet’s Food Center closed in September.
