ANSYS makes leadership changes

ANSYS, the Southpointe-based global provider of engineering simulation software, announced a leadership succession plan.

James E. Cashman, the CEO since 2000, will become chairman of the board of directors Jan. 1, 2017.

Ajei S. Gopal, a technology industry veteran and board member since 2011, was appointed president and chief operating officer, effective immediately, and become CEO Jan. 1. Gopal will continue on the board.

Ronald W. Hovsepian, current board chairman, will become lead independent director.
