More than $900,000 in state grants was awarded last week for two projects in Washington County, according to state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township.
The first of the two Commonwealth Financing Authority grants, $852,019, was designated to add a right turning lane to the southbound lanes of Morganza Road where it intersects with McMurray Road in Cecil Township, according to a news release from Bartolotta’s office. The project will include a right turning lane to the westbound lanes and a left turning lane to the eastbound lanes of McMurray Road at the same intersection.
The money will also provide for a new traffic signal at the entrance and exit of the proposed Cool Valley development area, the news release said.
The second grant, $50,000, was awarded to Donora Borough for a feasibility study for a 53-mile trail, to include 28 miles of trail from Marianna to Monongahela to Donora, according to Bartolotta’s office. The project also would have a 25-mile bike lane along state Route 88 from Donora to the Greene River Trail near Frederickstown.
