Sarris Candies, a chocolate-making institution in Washington County for more than 60 years, announced a major expansion as the family owned business continues to grow beyond the modest shop out of which it started.

The company announced it has bought a 130,000-square-foot industrial building at 135 Meadow Lane in Canonsburg in which it has established what it calls a "new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility" to make and package Sarris Chocolates. The new, larger facility is also expected to enable Sarris to grow its private label business as well.

Bill Sarris, president and CEO of Sarris Candies, said of the move: “This expansion will give Sarris Candies the capabilities to offer Sarris products across the USA. This facility will include a mezzanine walkway to allow visitors to view all aspects of the production of our chocolates. This is a huge investment in the future of Sarris Candies and the town of Canonsburg, and will continue the legacy of our founder, Frank Sarris.”
