The Washington County Airport is receiving a $450,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to rehabilitate the main access road and make other improvements.
State Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll, said in a news release, “The Washington County Airport produces more than $42 million to the local economy and supports hundreds of family-sustaining jobs in the region.”
Other grants awarded to the Washington County Airport over the past two years have aided in the construction of a new taxiway and the purchase of additional hangar space and office space.
The airport was one of 26 facilities across Pennsylvania sharing $6.2 million in grants during the current round of funding from PennDOT’s Aviation Development Program and Multimodal fund.
Other grants went to:
- The Joseph A. Hardy/Connellsville Airport in Fayette County, $75,000 to rehabilitate and replace components of the airport’s weather-reporting system.
- Rostraver Airport in Westmoreland County, $75,000 to acquire equipment to maintain the airfield and $112,500 to improve utility service to airport hangars.
- Allegheny County Airport, $223,000 to acquire equipment to maintain the airfield.
