Dollar General will open for business this morning in South Franklin Township.

A soft opening will begin at 8 a.m. at the variety store at 2180 Park Ave., where a mobile home development once sat and near Michels Pipeline.

This location will follow the company’s new store format, featuring 22 cooler doors offering more frozen and refrigerated food offerings; a larger health and beauty section; more efficient checkout; and a 7,300-square-foot sales floor.

Construction of the store, which will employ six to 10, began Sept. 29.

The first 50 adult customers Wednesday will each receive a $10 gift card. A grand opening will follow Jan. 7.

Dollar General Corp., based in Goodlettsville, Tenn., has more than 13,000 stores in 43 states.
